Description:
The first part of the
trail is easy to walk and the whole trail is paved. the area is semiarid
with little vegetation and almost no tree cover. So bring a hat and plenty
of sunscreen. As you walk up the fist part of the trail you will be able to
see Koko Head Crater on the left and Sandy Beach. When you reach the first
bend on the trail, lookout towards the southeast and on a good day you
should be able to see some of the neighboring islands of Oahu. By now the
gentle trade winds should be a welcome relief from the first part of the
trail. Continue up the trail and you will find two lookout platforms. From
here you will have a beautiful view of Rabbit Island, Makapu'u Point
Lighthouse and Makapu'u Beach Park. The views are worth the walk. Time to the
top of trail is around one hour at a leisurely pace.
Need to Know:
The trail is 2 miles long and is a moderate climb with paved
surfaces. Bring water, a hat and good walking shoes. Sunscreen
is highly recommend .
