Description:
The
Byodo-in Temple
is a place of awesome beauty,
located near Kaneohe, Hawaii. It is a scale replica of a temple in Uji Japan
built over 900 years ago. It's beautiful architecture , the graceful gardens
and the backdrop of the Koolau Ridge will leave the visitor with a spirit
of inner peace and serenity. |

Directions:
From Waikiki Take the Pali Highway over the mountains
to Kamehameha Highway using the Kaneohe exit continue to the H-3 past
the Likelike Highway. Past Windward community College. Travel another three
miles and make a left turn onto Ave of the Temples, Which is the main road
through the Valley of the temples Memorial Park. The Byodo-in Temple is at
the end of this road. There is ample parking at the entrance to the temple. |

feed the Koi. They will from a mass
of open mouths. |

Ring the three ton bronze bell
after arriving at the Byodo-in Temple to to purify the mind of evil spirits
and temptation. Or as I like to think to bring good luck. |

This statue of Buddha is
grand with its back drop craving and the ornate ceiling above.
But the statue itself seems to need some restoration work. So
please make a donation if you so feel.
Before entering the sanctuary please remove your
shoe, for this is a place of worship for the local Buddhist
population. Then feel free to light some incense and meditate before Buddha. |
